Our full breakfast always includes a fresh hot heirloom recipe main dish, fruit, pastries, juice, coffee, and more.  It changes with the season … this is true farm-to-table eating. We are on 2 acres of land within the city so you have a country feel but are close to restaraunts, shopping, attractions, and more.

We have an on-site cooking school and draw guests from all over the world.

Our nature trail through the forest is a delight with fun art to discover. In the winter, we keep it groomed and loan out skis and snowshoes.

Bed and breakfast amenities

The parlor is a great place to relax, do a puzzle, visit, and snuggle by the pot bellied parlor stove.
We are committed to paying attention to our guest’s needs. We’re sure you will agree that we have thought of everything to make your Montague Bed and Breakfast getaway enjoyable and memorable.
We can arrange with Water Dog Excursions to have your rentals (bikes/kayaks, paddle-boards…) here when you arrive or at a specified time/date. Ride the extensive “rails-to-trails” system that runs nearby. Ride downtown to catch a summer Tuesday night free concert at the Montague Band Shell on the shores of White Lake. Kayak beautiful White Lake and White River.

There is plenty of parking for your boat, snowmobile trailer, etc. We are located right by access to area snowmobile and cross-country ski trails.
WIFI Wireless Internet Access is available free-of-charge throughout the Inn for our guest’s use during their stay with us.
Chocolates await you in your room upon arrival. We offer a treat and beverage in the dining room in the evenings 5 to 7 pm.
We do have bicycles. These are available to borrow if they are not already in use. In the winter, we keep a trail through the woodland out back so bring your snowshoes or cross-country skis. We have a couple pair of each for loaning as well, if you don’t have any or can’t fit bringing yours into your travel plans.
Our rear gazebo porch is a popular place all day long, especially in the early mornings and right before dusk when the deer and wild turkeys wander through. The Hanson’s “girls” also trot about back there. (The “girls” are the small flock of hens that faithfully provide all the necessary eggs.) Light up the charcoal grill for your own private picnic.
The rear porch is a great place to relax with a good book, or over a bit of wine and cheese for two. Ask Valerie in advance of your stay about packing a picnic lunch for you to enjoy in your day’s travels.
Relax on the patio to the water sounds of our goldfish pond. Stroll in the woods while taking in the forest surroundings or meander through the vegetable gardens. Perhaps collecting the eggs might be fun. (Be sure to check with the Hansons before doing this…John has designed a special nesting area that helps keep you clean while doing so.)
Don’t forget to come back from dinner in time to play a board game, watch a movie or just relax in the privacy of your own room. All guest accommodations include cable TV. Summer evenings often are celebrated with a bonfire out back for our guests and friends.
We have a collection of board games for a romantic night for two or a fun time with friends. Often a game is going on in the parlor, or someone is tickling the ivories on John’s mother’s beautiful 1924 player piano. A 1915 Victrola is also in the Parlor for your musical enjoyment, as is John’s father’s accordion (she’s a beaut!). Feel free to read or work on a puzzle in the parlor…or just visit…. this is your home away from home.
A beverage area is available 24 hours for your enjoyment of select coffees, hot cider, teas, and cocoa.
Our Jacuzzi suite has terry cloth bathrobes for you to relax in and an electric fireplace for ambiance. And all of our rooms have specially made little soaps that Valerie has made for you.
Of course, a full, hot, farm-style breakfast is included in your room rates; and it is served between 9:30 to 10:30 am. It will start your day fantastically. It is made with seasonal local foods & produce, when possible, grown on site and prepared by Valerie with her special skills in heirloom cooking. A hot entrée is complimented with an assortment of homemade breads, grains, meats, pastries, cheeses, veggies, fruits, and yogurt. Of course, Sundays start with a slice of delicious homemade PIE!
